Radhika Gupta-Buckley "Homecoming"

Spring Break Art Fair 2024

September 4th - 9th

Unix Gallery Presents Radhika Gupta-Buckley "Homecoming" at Spring Break Art Fair NYC.

Radhika Gupta-Buckley is a New York based artist of Indian origin. Her life journey enables a wealth of experience, insight, and knowledge of the human condition across multiple cultures and subcultures to be brought to her work. Though painting since she was six years old, her early career path started with a Law Degree from Oxford, leading to her practicing law at the Indian Supreme Court and the UN in The Hague. Frustrated by the bureaucratic barriers to facilitating change and highlighting the plight of those suffering injustice, Radhika reverted back to art to inform, educate, and enlighten on cultural issues, from equality, gender bias, sexuality, race, prejudice across nations and cultures, she aims to use her art to be a voice for the silenced and oppressed.

"Homecoming"

“Come home.” These two words can mean vastly different things depending on who says them to me—my family, my husband, my child, and my friends. They can be an invitation, a plea, or a rebuke. My geographical biography (India, Europe, the U.S.) is intertwined with my spiritual and creative development. So, those words are most mystifying when I say them to myself and when I speak to myself as an artist. There’s a sense of reunion—of two parts becoming one whole, of a return to self.
