Perception
Norbert Brunner
Unix Gallery presents "Perception" with Norbert Brunner, an Austrian conceptual and installation artist, transforms the act of seeing into a participatory exploration of perception, identity, and the structures that shape our daily lives. Through his signature mirrored objects and installations, Brunner overlays reflections with text, symbols, and cultural references, creating surfaces where viewers are both present and implicated. The work challenges traditional notions of authorship, representation, and meaning, inviting audiences to navigate a constantly shifting field of information, context, and interpretation.
Brunner’s objects exist in the space between the familiar and the destabilized. Everyday signs and forms are distorted, refracted, and reconfigured, prompting viewers to reconsider how they perceive the world and their place within it. By merging two- and three-dimensional elements, Brunner dissolves conventional boundaries between mediums and genres, offering an experience that is as conceptually rigorous as it is visually compelling.
In this exhibition, the viewer becomes both observer and participant, moving through Brunner’s layered environments and encountering multiple narratives simultaneously. His work foregrounds the complexity of human perception, turning reflection—both literal and metaphorical—into a tool for critical engagement, self-awareness, and the reconsideration of everyday experience.
